FAQ

  • What does the course cover?

The course covers the minimum training requirements for the R44 theoretical knowledge syllabus as outlined in the EASA Operational Suitability Data. Basically, this means that the course covers everything you should learn during a type rating training course. This includes systems descriptions, limitations, weight and balance, and awareness training. Whether the R44 is your first type, or an additional type, then this course is for you.

  • Should the course be self-studied?

The course is designed so that you can work through the material alone and at your own pace. If you prefer, you can work through the course material with your instructor who may be able to offer additional insights. We also highly recommend watching some of the course video whilst at your local flight school with a real R44 nearby - provided you have the flight school's permission.

  • What are the advantages of using the course?

There are many advantages of using our course material. Firstly, any information learnt that you were not previously aware of is a big plus. Knowledge ultimately increases your safety and competency. Secondly, instructors can only teach what they know. Undoubtedly you will have a good instructor, however, it is human nature to forget certain things over time. What you learn from an instructor may have trickled through other instructors over many years, acting like a filter for information. Going directly to a comprehensive source of information is likely to include things that will, or may have been missed or forgotten. Another advantage is the ability to absorb the material at your own pace, as well as being able to repeat elements you were not fully confident on.
